kerala has got lot of good directors
in kerala we have got some good directors among them padmarajan and barathan can stand upto manirathnam , both of them are no more , the problem with malayalam indrustry is that its not large as tamil or telugu indrustry when finantial background is considered so lot of good filims remained unnoticed ,

if you observe the recent filims of priyadarshan you can see that most of his filims were super hits in hindi all of them are remaked version of malayalam filims , even though most of the malayalies were not satisfied the way he presented and the way the actors( hindi actors ) presented it in hindi as hindi version were no way near malayalam filim when its quality and humor were considered

we have some good directors like priyadarshan , sathyan anthikkad , sidiquelal , lohida das , siby malayil even though they wont have finantial background like maniratnam most of their filims are super hits

Are there any original Hindi movies—in the thriller genre? ala Jewel Thief? Now, please dont tell me it is also ‘inspired’ by some other movie

Top 100 Best Known Hindi movies

I think the best thing to do is to ask members to give the names of their 10 favourite Bollywood movies. Some people have to take the responsibility of keeping the count of movies. We can select the top 100 movies from that. It’s not a one man job, though.
We need to keep the fact in mind that there were many old movies which deserve to be included, so, we also need to consider the movies released in the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s.
But we can’t make a list ourselves. This community is really a community of film fanatics. I think when they put down their top 10 films they will give due consideration to films from the bygone decades. I am really keen about this thing. I had thought about it sometime back when I saw on TV here in the UK that they have compiled lists of the top 100 movies, the top 100 musicals, the top 100 songs and so on, but nobody has yet compiled a similar list of Bollywood movies. Threadstarter, this is a great idea.

Indian war movies have not really been up to the mark.

Even if Dutta’s Border brought the emotions and lifestyles of soldiers to the forefront, did any of the characters actually look like soldiers?

Soldiers don’t sport long hair……..they are very toned and lean built due to daily rigorous routine etc.
Some basic but important facts that were overlooked in Border.

Prahaar was not a war movie
but they had done a lot of homework on soldier training and lifestyle.

Lakshya was also good, excellently directed by Farhan. It was more of an individual’s mental and physical growth as a soldier, but very convincing.

Rang de basanti
I watched this movie this weekend. Its really awesome. Aamir khan as DJ is simply superb.Such natural acting. Siddharth has done a very controlled role. The ‘Paatshala’ song beats everything. To add to the effect of everything i watched in ‘Six degrees’ of Sathyam complex though it is pretty expensive there. The youth effect is addressed really well in the movie. A gud hindi movie after a long time. Its really pleasing for the souls who are really bugged by watching movies like Zinda, Family etc..

Its a must watch for everyone though it may be a lil difficult to understand the subtle humour at some places if you don’t know hindi..On the whole a kudos to the whole team..
