Background music in older movie songs

background music in older movie songs

I wud like to mention about the appropriate and timely use of background music in older movie songs which does not create a barrier between the singer and the listener like recent film songs which contain unneccessarily loud and untimely introduced background music. this in turn most often ruins the core essence of the song and makes it sound more artificial and studio-made.
but on the contrary, I believe that the modern music composers have no other way than to support the modern singers with background music considering their poor ability to perform without supporting music,. this was not required in those golden days bcoz most of the singers were trained classically to sing using only harmonium or tanpura and tabla.

Welcome fetching incredible prices

Welcome fetching incredible prices
“Welcome” is the hottest film in the market! Originally sold to UTV, the distribution rights have been acquired by Studio 18 for a phenomenal price. But the positive development is that Studio 18 has been receiving incredible offers for the various territories by independent distributors.

While Studio 18 has clinched the deal for a few territories at the same price as “Om Shanti Om” [yes, you read it right], the price for a few territories is at par with the business done by “Krrish” and “Lage Raho Munnabhai” in those circuits.
“Welcome” is eagerly anticipated for various reasons, mainly its huge start cast, Akshay’s top status after three back-to-back hits in 2007 and Anees Bazmee’s immediate release after “No Entry”.

MUSIC IS OCEAN DONT TRY TO FISH WITH A SMALL BOAT

MUSIC IS OCEAN DONT TRY TO FISH WITH A SMALL BOAT
I am really sad that you people have limited knowledge of music and makinf a list of pure and impure composers. There are only limited raagas known to human beings. There may be thousands of compositions on same raaga. It is obvious that they will feel as same…but the composers talent is in moulding the raaga with the adding right proportions of melody, rythm, emotions, situation..suitable to the lyrics also. Please understand this and stop gossipping!!!

A.R. Rehman has a number of great compositions

A.R. Rehman has a number of great compositions

A.R. Rehman has a number of great compositions under his belt. Shankar-Eshan- Loy, Ismail Durbar, Vishal Bharadwaj have shown occassional magic. But if we see in numbers, they are just like a few drops of water in a sea of horrible compositions by commercially successful music directors like Himesh Reshemiya, Pritam, Sajid-Wajid etc. So, in general terms we cann’t say that the present day music still carry the same kind of melody as the old ones used to do. We cannot generalise some stray cases. If we look back, the list of great music directors in 50s, 60s, 70s grows at such a pace that we don’t even need to tax our brain to the slightest to find another neme. Who doesn’t remember the names of Anil Biswas, S.D. Barman, Madan Mohan, Shankar Jaykishan, Roshan, Salil Choudhury, Khayyam, R.D. Barman……………Every second song was a masterpiesce. I feel gone are the days. Most of the present day music directors are better music arrangers than director. They are more into producing repetative, boring, agonising and monotonous discotheque orianted music pieces. A sensible human being will never call these melodious if he is not in a discotheque dancing around with his girlfriend.

Death of melody in Indian song

Death of melody in Indian song
Do you all really think modern hindi filmi songs, music albums and all regional songs are lacking creative juice? are we going through an era of death of melody in indian music? Or are we witnessing another golden age of indian song————- please share your views.

Think melody is back with a bang. we have to credit it to the genius of a r rahman, versatility of shankar-ehsan-loy and the talent of preetam. while rahman has experimented with the baul music of Bengal to the karnataki classical music, shankar has successfully mingled with indian classical music and made it reach to the masses by flavouring it with simplicity. preetam popularised the bengal’s band music besides composing some beautiful melodies. sometimes its fashionable to say ‘old is gold’. but there had been some abysmal compositions in the golden period of music as well; composed by great composers in fact. i can give you a long list, may be in a different discussion. on the other hand there have been great compositions by the above three which could rank among the top 20 of all times. my favourite ten by the above three are-
dil he chota sa (Roja—Anil Biswas in an interview had said that he’d given up listening to modern day songs till he heard this one)
tu hi re(Bombay)
kabhi neem neem kabhi shehad(yuva)
tere bina besuari (guru-sung by a r rahman himself)
tanhai(dil chahta he)
mitwa(KANK)
maa(TZP)[to javed akhtar this is one of the best of all times)
in dino(Life……Metro)
aami je tumar(Bhul bhulaiyya)
bheegi bheegi(Gangster—though a reproduction of ‘Prithibi ta jeno …’( Mohiner Ghoraguli) has set a trend in bollywood)

Other good and original composers who seems to be out of favour are Ismail Darbar, Shantanu Moitra…Can anyone tell me where is Sandesh Sandilya…..

Family Drama in In Mid 80’s and 90 in HINDI MOVIES

In Mid 80’s and 90 Most fo the director are making movies on Family issue at that time al movies are based on Family Drama..
Like Gharana, Ghar ghar ke kahaniyan, Khandaan, oyar ka mandir,
dariya dil, jaise karne waise bharni, bhabhi.. and many more..
other hand we can say that govinda, rishi kapoor and mithun were the lead star at that time for same kind of plot.

after that anil kapoor rised and he also worked in same family drama.
like Jamai Raja, Ghar ho to aisa, Vijay and many more..

but some time later anil kapoor, amir khan changed the plot summary of movies.

Anil started young engry college, or unemployed boy role.
like Tezab, rakhwala, ander bahar, and Kala Bazar in kala bazar director were trying to show the black marketing, brive and corruption in the country.

Amir started work in love stories but played different lover in every movie.
