music director and a composer are almost same but there’s some difference….
a music director produces composes and arranges music…it’s upon him tht he does all these things himself or does it with help of others….like he can use a saperate composer and arranger while producing music himself…..and it’s not necessary tht a composer has to b a good vocalist also…hans zimmer dosent uses his voice much…even a.r.rahman,himesh and mithoon used their voice after a while….and u r right tht a m.d plays an important part in a singer’s carrier….wen a singer sings a song and it becomes hit….then a singer is called up by many….like kailash kher,sukhwinder singh,naresh iyer….these singers are dicovered by a.r.rahman….and he has helped them a lot in their success….even the say this thing…
well all u need is a gud music sense ..
ur music sense keeps on improving ,the more time u give to music composing ..
u need to give time to it ,sit and try thinking up better notes ..
proper building of climaxes and proper ending notes ..
i think technology has a very lil role 2 play in it .
it has to come from within ………nothing can save u ,if tune is a crap..
tune is the backbone ..

What exactly do you need to be a music composer
to be a composer u need to have a spritual approach, clear heart with a tinge of lingering sorrow in some of it’s corner along with a creative mind and deep devotion to music…..
and i think music composition is a combination of art and science. while the art can come from spiritualism, the latter is needed to do anything gr8.
a tune can be enhanced with technology, cant be made. Jus try to play the same song with a piano/guitar n if it still sounds good thats the song!!
u need purity of thots, a clear mind to start with a song. then technically u need constraints to be put (oh i’ll use this genre, only these 5-10 instruments, this shud be the angle of the song) and as someone rightly said - any great piece of art is not made, its remade! so u need to rework on the final piece u make
last thing - the song should be touching the heart not the brain. technically u can go WOW but if its not touching someone’s heart its useless. if its played on a mono speaker without a woofer on a radio, even then it should please the listener.
these r basics according to me, and yeah technology really enhances the songs n appeals our senses, no doubt.
