Old Songs - Hindi Vs TamilI don’t know if it my perception, but had this feeling for quite a long time.For some reason, I find that the old Hindi songs, those sung by Kishore and Rafi seem to be immortal. They are quite popular among younger generations. (the kishore kumar orkut community has 72,000 members)But the same is not true with Tamil songs. Not many youngsters will say they are great fans of old tamil songs.Is it just a perception or is it true? what may be the reasons More than the old tamil songs….the songs of 90’s are more famous i guess….illayaraja time rocks..!!!!and to answer you…the ammount of tamil speaking ppl is very very less compared to the total of hindi speaking ppl….and almost all know hindi and listen to hndi songs…so listening to hindi songs is a much larger perception as compared to a very few population listening to tamil songs…. New hindi songs are utter crap most of the time. Tamil offers relatively better variety/quality. So, people following Hindi music have to go back in time to find the quality that they desire. :P

what do you like about old hindi songsTell us what you like about old hindi songs…Here is what i like: the wordings…i mean the lyrics…and the way its so decently sang…so calm….thats what i love about old songs… I wud like to mention about the appropriate and timely use of background music in older movie songs which does not create a barrier between the singer and the listener like recent film songs which contain unneccessarily loud and untimely introduced background music. this in turn most often ruins the core essence of the song and makes it sound more artificial and studio-made. but on the contrary, I believe that the modern music composers have no other way than to support the modern singers with background music considering their poor ability to perform without supporting music,. this was not required in those golden days bcoz most of the singers were trained classically to sing using only harmonium or tanpura and tabla.

Rafi Vs Lata
Well! I know most of the responses that would be there but I have grown to believe that Rafi carried more versatility than Lata. Infact Lata in one of her interviews did admit that she considered it her great honour to have sung alongside Rafi Saahab in numerous duets also disclosing the fact that as she considered him her greatest rival she would always come prepared before hand and would always hold back something special for Rafi Saahab to throw during the song and surprise him. I am a great fan of Rafi Saahab but not the kind of fans who would go to any extent to prove that the one like surpasses everyone; yet I still strongly do feel Rafi Sahab carried more variety than Lata Ji. A Prime example to prove the point would be the switch to swinging music during the 60’s which started with and was bred by Rafi Saahab with Shimmy playing the archetypal Rocker lover boy but in most of such songs Asha had to come along to sing with Rafi Saahab in a demanding period. Your say guys!

Rangeela
I think it has to be RANGEELA for several reasons:
1. It was Rahman’s first non-dubbed Hindi Album.
2. He covered so many different types of genres of music in this album. Every song was on a different theme, a dream song(Title Track), a tapori song(Yaaron Sun Lo Zara), a semi-classical(Hai Rama), an awesome instrumental(Spirit of Rangeela). It had everything…
3. He introduced so many different sounds and rhythms in this album.
Rahman shook Indian Music Industry by Roja, but it was only after Rangeela tht the overall sound of Hindi Music Industry changed. Hats off to the Maestro!!!!

these days i’m listening the song “tu hi meri shab hai….” of gangster movie that makes me a feeling of those moments which i’d spent with my freinds.and so as my onesided crush who got married and shuld be as we don’t had any conversation and so as don’t having any aquintances.i had only seen her and only seen ……that’s how i know her.quite sad!
but life moves on and i won’t be having these pals after 16 days.as we’re leaving college.
